Top 5 Methods to Get Rid of Mice Fast

July 10, 2019

get rid of mice

4. Ultrasonic devices

Ultrasonic devices produce sound waves or vibrations that rodents are afraid of. However, mice or rats may adapt to the devices. It is suggested that ultrasonic devices be utilized along with other pest control options.

5. Chemical Control / Pesticide

Poisoned baits are a common way of controlling rodents. If you use a pesticide to control your pest problem, read the label to make sure that you are choosing the right product for the right pest. Follow all label directions and warnings carefully. Always look for a Pest Control Products (PCP) number on the label so you know the product has been approved by Health Department.   Follow the directions for use closely.  Repellents have also been found effective in discouraging mice from damaging young trees and and other plants.

I’ve done a lot to get rid of field mice. So small they don’t set off traps. I’ve filled every hole crack in and outside. Keep getting them in the same place. Landlord put poison pigs in kitchen, NEVER had any but in one room. Trying to get moved in. So I hope when all the boxes are gone they will go to. Hate the critters. Don’t know what to do.
    HELP. SHARI.

The green blocks are good. They are at Walmart. However be careful if you have pets that could get to them.

If you can have one, cats work well. Otherwise the old spring traps work with peanut butter on the trigger. Also the glue traps if you dont mind throwing them away with a wiggling mouse still attached to it, or throwing them into something that takes care of the mouse…..i.e. water, the freezer, etc.

This is what l did. I Purchased some peppermint oil Spray.

Spray pepperment oil in all 4 coners of each room of your house & basement for one month. Check; after two week. If you still see them, continue to spray until you never see them again.
Don’t get frustrated, because this depends on how many were hiding in your home.

Have a historic one story building, formerly a 19th century external cook house, currently used to display 54 mm historic models on shelves and tables. Small rodents are knocking over valuable displays on shelves and tables.

tootsie rolls instead of peanut butter works a lot better. chew them up to make them soft then put on pressure pad just takes about 1/4 if a mini tootsie roll to bait a trap. Killed 25 in 1 day with 5 traps it really works if you know where to put them.

1 cup baking soda, 1 cup sugar or sweetened chocolate mix, I chose powder sugar, and 1 cup of flour or cornmeal. Mix the 3 ingredients together very well spend along paths they travel if possible. They will return to it. Sugar will attrack, baking soda will kill the rodents. Happy hunting

MY boss would go buy steal shavings like steal wool but thicker and sharper he would make balls (pingpong size) cover them up its peanut butter and put where he would see them. They aren’t seen usually again. Kinda crude but they eat the mettle (believe it or not ) and it cuts up their insides causeing well death. Problem eliminated. He never really had any after that. He used peppermint and good smells but they got used to it and flourished for several months. After bout. 2 weeks or so he didn’t have but a few then just gone

I have a mice problem in side the walls over winter we had a vole living in our home so I’m not sure if it mouse or vole but either way nothing is killing them I can hear the critter at night when taking a bath. Last night he was directly behind my head scratching at the wall? What can I do to get rid of whatever kind of critter it is?

Amanda, I recommend you to buy mice buy traps and put a small amount of peanut butter and poison on the trap. Also call a professional exterminator to seal up your hole if any in your apartment. Also, if your entry door to your apartment have a gap on the bottom of your door get a sealer.

    Hope this information works.

To Boo, traps may be gross but I would much rather have a trap with a dead mouse in it than to have a dang live mouse in the house and not know what it is destroying and concerning the lawsuit that should be filed against DeCon, that is ridiculous. That is a problem with our country now, to many frivolous lawsuits. A lot of people like to file lawsuits anytime that something happens or doesn’t happen to suit them.

They ignore the traps. I don’t know what to do. We named 1 Fred. We see him often, the cats play catch and release with him and only him. We live in a very wooded area, and they are everywhere. We thought all the holes were plugged, guess not, but can’t find it. Ideas?..

We got a especially rampant filthy creature that got into our house. Nothing worked until I tried peppermint oil everywhere, the creature hated it. I loved the smell, it’s so fresh smelling. I spray it for air freshener, clean with it, mopping and wiping counters all over house. Place near door ways along walls etc. Use outdoors around foundation of house and in garden. Add drops to heating vents also. Use eucalyptus oil also in areas where you cannot use peppermint oil or mix them. Worked for me with some adjustments made as needed. Hope this helps I was wits end with disgust

I too have a very very bad mice problem. I have to clean my dang cabinets my bath towels an rags because there is so much mouse crap all over it. They even get into my bed which is also very very disgusting!!! I’ve tried an still using the old mouse traps technic. I also throw decon under my house. Even though there are glue traps to me those are very to disgusting an very cruel. Next I’m going to try an get the main thing fixed an that is to seal the gaps underneath my doors. I’m even considering getting a cat even though I have a dog.

I have big dogs, they don’t catch mice, but considering they carry disease, I don’t want them to. We put Decon (green blocks) in the holes. The traps with pb and cheese, caught momma in trap yesterday. Today, 2 babies with the same trap, then 2 babies on 1 glue trap together. We r gonna keep trying. Those vermin were all on my counters and chewed my water lines on my sink and refrigerator causing water to leak into my power box. They had to go. This is humane!

I cannot use decon. I had 2 dogs eat a mouse outside and both died due to neighbors using the stuff.

If you live in a country setting you are bound to get mice. I use a half gallon container of plaster of paris. Open carton and sprinkle chocolate into it. The mice eat it then go for water. Upon drinking after eating the chocolate plaster of paris it hardens and kills the mice with no worries about anyone animals.

first thing, know where they are coming from, secondly, set a trap with cheese – be sure to tie it on the trap, set it right along the wall where it came from and finally, close the hole with a piece of wood or steel wool and duck tape.
